Activision will publish a new game based on the iconic Ninja Turtles brand called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze, the publisher announced today. The game will slot in between seasons two and three of the current Nickelodeon television show and use 3D artwork inspired by the show. It will launch later this year for Xbox 360, PS3 and 3DS.
Danger of the Ooze is a side-scrolling action-adventure game that allows players to freely switch between the four turtles to use their unique skill sets at their convenience. The city of New York and alternate world Dimension X are non-linear, so the game encourages "exploration and creative thinking" from players. The developer behind Danger of the Ooze is WayForward, known for games like Contra 4, BloodRayne: Betrayal, the Shantae series, and A Boy and His Blob (Wii).
We're slicing up the first details for Activision Publishing, Inc.'s new video game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Danger of the Ooze, a side-scrolling action-adventure video game which bridges the gap between season 2 and season 3 of Nickelodeon's popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated program. Blending classic 2D fighting and platforming gameplay with the 3D art direction of the TV series, this new title from developer WayForward Technologies will launch for the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, Sony's PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system later this year.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze brings together new locations, allies and threats! The game quickly heats up as Shredder, Tiger Claw and a new army of mutants threaten the streets of New York, forcing Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo to take action into their own hands. The game's distinguishing feature is its vast, interconnected, non-linear game world, which rewards exploration and creative thinking. Powers, upgrades and equipment scattered across New York and Dimension X opens up new environments to traverse, secrets to discover and bosses to battle.
All four Turtles can be swapped between freely throughout the adventure, and each has his own unique rhythm, with specialized stats, strengths and skills. Combat is fast-paced, emphasizing the gang's martial arts prowess through attack and item combos, counters and finishers, but also provides tools for stealth-based approaches to avoid or tackle enemies.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze is expected to emerge Fall 2014 for Xbox 360, PlayStation®3, and Nintendo 3DS and is rated E10+ (Everyone 10 and up) by the ESRB. For more Turtles news as it comes, follow along at www.Facebook.com/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles.
